Meet Nichola, the latest CIBTAC team member

We are lucky to have a fantastic team here at CIBTAC, one of the most recent members to come on board is Nichola Sackley. With a wealth of experience in the beauty industry Nichola has joined as Business Development Officer while also occasionally still carrying out the role of CIBTAC Examiner. Read our quick Q&A to find out more…

What does your role involve?

I am loving my role as Business Development Officer as it is a very varied one. Since starting in March this year I have been improving our accreditation application documents and streamlining the process to make it much more user friendly. I have made contact with all the centres that were already in the process and have taken over their accreditations' whilst dealing with new enquiries coming in all the time. Since April we have three new CIBTAC centres in the UK, Japan and Lithuania and have at least another two due to complete this month which is great! My main focus at the moment is to promote CIBTAC within the UK as we would love to increase the number of CIBTAC centres on our home turf.

Where are you based and what areas do you cover?

Home for me is Farnborough, Hampshire and I work mainly from my home office unless I am travelling for CIBTAC either as an International Examiner or on Business Development. I cover all areas internationally where I am needed.

How many years have you worked in the beauty industry?

22 years.....now that makes me feel old!

Where did your beauty career start?

Although born in Essex, I lived in Jersey until the age of 21, so I came to the UK to train and qualified in 1996 with CIBTAC, ITEC & CIDESCO Diplomas. I returned to the Island and worked as a Beauty Therapist in a local salon, I soon moved into salon management, then moved to the UK and owned my own salon. In 2002, alongside the salon, I got into beauty education and found my calling! In 2006 I sold my salon to go into teaching full time and I taught various Beauty & Complementary Therapies in Further Education before taking over in 2008 as Curriculum Manager for a Hair & Beauty Division in a FE college. Finally in 2010 I moved into the Awarding Organisation area which I love.

What’s your favourite beauty treatment?

OOOO, a good facial....always, or Reflexology.

Finally what is your best beauty hack?

Exfoliating! Not enough people realise the benefits.
