CIBTAC Student Winner 2019 Karen Saab Cronin talks about winning her award..
Karen went the extra mile to ensure her application wowed the judges enough to earn the accolade of star pupil.
What does winning this award mean to you?
Being a member of such a respected institute like CIBTAC is already a reward in itself but winning this worldwide award is definitely a great honour and a true symbol that hard work pays off in the end.
What made you want to apply?
My educators suggested I apply for this award. I didn't want to let them down and wanted to do my best to make them proud.
What was the toughest part of the application process?
The toughest but also the most enjoyable part was shooting the treatment video because it needed to be perfect. The guidelines on how the video left room for me to be creative and really show the best version of myself without restrictions.
In your opinion what makes a stand out student?
I believe in order to stand out at anything in life, it is very important to go the extra mile. Most people have the tendency of doing only what they are asked, but you only shine when you are willing to put in more attention and effort than others are.
How did you celebrate your win?
With my closest friends and family - they are the people who mean the most to me and know what I have gone through to get here, so they appreciate the win just as much as I do.
What’s on your to-do list for 2020?
I have already started collaborating with the esteemed European Medical Center & Aesthetic Surgery in Dubai where I am developing the Skincare/Non-invasive Aesthetic department so my biggest goal in 2020 is for it to be up and running. We want it to be the go-to destination for all the men and women in Dubai looking for honest and high quality, medical grade skin treatments.
What advice would you give to anyone thinking about applying for the awards next year?
I would advise them to make their application stand out and to invest time in the quality of their video and editing because it will be a representation of themselves. They can be amazing therapists but they also need to be able to market their skills in the short duration of their video. Trust me, it's worth it!
